The Norwegian tenor Magnus Staveland was born in Stavanger. He studied at the State Academy of Music in Oslo and at the Royal Opera Academy in Copenhagen with Susanna Eken.

He is a much sought-after concert singer and regularly appears in concert venues and festivals throughout Europe and Asia. His repertoire includes a vast number of masses, oratorios, symphonies and song cycles.

The season 2017/18 included Nerone in Monteverdi’s L’INCORONAZIONE DI POPPEA at Nationaltheater Mannheim, Ferrando in COSÌ FAN TUTTE at the Norwegian National Opera, performances of Bach’s ST JOHN PASSION staged by Pierre Audi in Amsterdam, Versailles, Leipzig, London and Rouen, Clotarco in Haydn’s ARMIDA in Warsaw, Basel and Theater an der Wien with Basel Chamber Orchestra, Weill’s THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS with Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Haydn’s NELSON MASS in Ljubljana, Bach’s ST JOHN PASSION in Oslo, Mozart’s MASS IN C MINOR in Oslo and Kristiansand, Beethoven’s SYMPHONY NO. 9 in Molde and Kristiansund, Bernard Rands’ SONGS OF THE SUN with Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra and concerts of various baroque arias with Bergen National Opera.
