It is the highlight of the opening programme when 100 debutante couples enthral our guests and audience with a fascinating dance presentation in three-four time.

Every year, 100 debutante couples enthral our guests and audience with a fascinating dance presentation in three-four time. The ladies in spectacular gowns and the gentleman in stylish tuxedos together form the absolute highlight of the opening programme. For ten minutes they take over the stage, glide in breathtaking choreography across the dance floor and enchant millions in the opera house and on screens around the world.

Veronika Tillich, wife of Saxony's Minister President, is the patroness of the debutantes. For the young dancers, the evening of the ball marks the end of weeks of training. Their reward: lasting memories of an extraordinary night.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE A DEBUTANT(E)?

You must be aged between 16 and 29 and have some experience in dancing the Viennese Waltz. From July 2019 you can find the dates of the Castings for the 15th SemperOpernball 2020 here.
